Our internal Networks unit is responsible for designing, building and running the networks and technology platforms that BT, and our customers, rely on.

Bringing together network strategy, transformation, and the modernisation of our mobile and fixed network assets - along with direct partnering with Enterprise, Global and Consumer on leading edge, converged services and experiences – our Networks division designs, builds and runs the technology platforms that BT, and our customers, rely upon every day.

• Every year, we file more than 100 new inventions to keep BT, our customers and the UK at the cutting edge. 
• Thanks to our investments, we were able to satisfy peak demand in our core network of 22.7 Tb/s in 2020, a 30% increase over the same period in the previous year. 
• In the past year, average download speeds on our broadband network increased by more than 15% despite this huge increase in demand for bandwidth. 
• In the UK, 96 % of people can now receive superfast broadband at more than 30Mbps. 
• On mobile we’ve seen a 36% increase in data usage over the last 12 months, with highest recorded peak on 18th March – a throughput peak of 802Gb/s for Europa League football.

You'll have the following responsibilities

Key responsibilities include;


• Providing technical network knowledge to design, test, platform and operational teams
• Develops effective working relationships with internal stakeholders to explore opportunities for partnership.
• Uses technical knowledge to support design, configuration, testing and delivery. Also propose improvements to processes and implementations on team equipment and networks.
• Seeks continuous improvement and efficiency opportunities in order to automate, centralise, standardise and simplify processes, assisting the delivery of improvement projects and initiatives.
• Representing BT to vendors and driving for solutions to technical problems.
• Completion of team activities, delivering them as efficiently as possible to support the development and maintenance of the network platform and services. 
• Ensuring the technical integrity of assigned project deliverables. These activities will include: analysis and decomposition of requirements, designs, together with development of new methodologies.
• Contributing to the implementation of key strategies and transformation activities in the team.
• Adhering to all team processes, examples are; Jira updates, Timesheets & team best practices
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues in project and completing customer requests
• Building and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders across and outside of the business
• Accountable and responsible for the delivery of projects which support the team’s strategic goals.
• You are authorised to access, use or disclose customer information only when you need to do so to perform your operational duties. 
• You will be confident and professional in communicating with all stakeholders, both locally and with members of the Senior Management Team
• You will have extensive experience of network technologies and protocols within your native domain
• You will have awareness of the E2E service journey
• You will be able to adapt to emerging and evolving technologies, in line with Tech Pathways role mapping
• Provision of E2E management, delivery and cessation of Cable-link products, including associated tasks.
• Manage own development, upskilling & multiskilling proactively in line with unit strategy.
• Responsible for the maintenance and application of required system accesses to fulfil your tasks.
• Any other tasks to support the implementation and delivery of network services on behalf of BT and the BT group.
