Main duties of the job

You will support ourtriaging GPs and wider clinical team in relation to the management of bloodsand processing of information relating to appointments, referrals and clinicalinvestigations

You will liaise withpatients on behalf of the GP, advising them on care pathways, follow up appointmentsandreferrals.

Where directed by the GP, you will support the clinical team in undertaking basic observations and investigations, such as: blood pressure management, venepuncture, recording ECGs and health promotion such as smoking cessation. Training can be provided.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake the GP Assistant Certificate qualification.

You may also give information to patients and their familiesregarding care pathways, follow up appointments and referral.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Previous experience of working in healthcare/general practice Knowledge and experience of general administration processes, record keeping, minute taking Experience/competence in: blood pressure checks, ECG and venepuncture (or willingness to train)

Qualifications

Essential

Minimum A Level or equivalent (A* - C) GP Assistant Certificate qualification (or willingness to work towards)

Desirable

Science A level A* - C Blood interpretation training
