We are currently recruiting for a talented Litigation Midwife to join our first class, Clinical Support Team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about the work they do, the service they provide and getting the best results for their clients.
The role of the Litigation Midwife is to support Fee Earners in the review and analysis of medical records and expert reports. This role will consider potential areas within Clinical Negligence cases for investigation in respect of likely Breach of Duty (BOD) & advice as to why and will provide expert advice to the fee earners.
Responsibilities To Include
File Management
- Provide support & clinical advice to fee earner(s) on their client matters, to include but not limited, to review of records, review of expert reports, general advice on where & how to focus investigations.
- Reviewing & advising upon merits of new enquires
- Speaking to clients concerning preliminary enquiries and investigation of their matters
- Commentary & analysis of the causative potency of identified likely BOD’s and any avoidable injury over & above the patients pre-existing health conditions.
- Ensuring a pro-active and high level of client care and compliance with the National Practice Standards.
- Assisting other team members with document reviews & medical records review.
- Assisting with the vetting of new claims enquiries and liaising with potential customers in this regard.
- From time to time, supporting customers undertaking healthcare complaints.
- Supporting the wider Clinical Negligence Team with business development & training as required.
- Generally providing assistance to the Clinical Negligence Team In Practice.
Finance
- Ensure time recording is managed to enable achievement of personal targets and support fee earners in the achievement of theirs.
About You
- A Qualification in nursing such as RGN, BSC (Hons) Midwifery & at least 5 years’ experience in midwifery & midwifery NMC registration
- Understanding of Clinical Negligence law and practice
- Experience within a Clinical Negligence team is desirable
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite and relevant practice and business IT systems, particularly Partner and Medbrief
- Excellent typing skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to think logically and analytically
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work from various stakeholders
- Commercial aware and highly motivated
- Proactive
- Good attention to detail
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
