GSL Education’s South Yorkshire branch is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behaviour Support professional to work with students in secondary schools across Sheffield. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting students' emotional and social development, helping them to thrive both academically and personally.

Job Summary:
As a Behaviour Support professional, you will work closely with students exhibiting challenging behaviour, providing tailored support and strategies to enhance their engagement and learning. Your role will be crucial in fostering a positive school environment and promoting a culture of respect and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities for Behaviour Support:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with behavioural challenges, helping them to develop coping strategies and positive behaviours.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to implement Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) and promote consistent approaches across the school.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver intervention programmes tailored to individual student needs, focusing on social skills, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution.
  • Build trusting relationships with students to encourage open communication and a sense of safety in the learning environment.
  • Conduct regular assessments and observations to inform strategies and adapt support as needed.
  • Engage with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and strategies to support behaviour at home.

Essential Requirements for Behaviour Support:

  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • A calm and patient approach, with the ability to manage challenging situations effectively.
  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
