Role Overview

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support the mathematics department by providing tailored academic support to students of varying abilities. This role is ideal for a graduate passionate about mathematics and education, looking to gain valuable classroom experience and inspire the next generation of learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Small Group Interventions: Work with small groups of students to reinforce key mathematical concepts and address learning gaps.
  • One-to-One Support: Provide personalized assistance to students who require extra help in improving their mathematical understanding and skills.
  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers during lessons by engaging students, facilitating activities, and supporting behavior management.
  • Exam Preparation: Help students prepare for upcoming assessments and exams by running focused revision sessions and teaching effective study techniques.
  • Progress Monitoring: Observe and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and suggesting strategies for improvement.
  • Resource Preparation: Assist in creating lesson materials and organizing resources to ensure smooth lesson delivery.
  • Promoting Maths Engagement: Encourage students to develop a positive attitude towards mathematics and consider further study or careers in STEM fields.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Graduate in Mathematics or Related Field: A degree in maths, statistics, engineering, or a closely related discipline is essential.
  • Passion for Education: A genuine desire to inspire and support students in their academic journey.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The ability to explain complex mathematical concepts in an accessible and engaging way.
  • Adaptability: Flexible and capable of addressing the diverse needs of students.
  • Team Player: Works well with teachers and staff to enhance the learning experience.
  • Experience (Preferred): Previous experience in education, tutoring, or working with young people is advantageous but not essential.
