About the Role

Connex Education is working with a primary school in Normanton, seeking  HLTA's for day-to-day cover work.

Your role can vary depending on the school, but generally, HLTA responsibilities include:

  • Leading Learning Activities: HLTA's often lead small group instruction, interventions, or whole-class activities under the guidance of the classroom teacher. They may plan and deliver lessons, adapting teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual students or groups.

  • Curriculum Support: They assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of curriculum content, working closely with teachers to ensure that lessons are engaging, effective, and aligned with learning objectives.

  • Assessment and Progress Tracking: HLTA's may be involved in assessing student progress, grading assignments, and providing feedback to both students and teachers. They may also help track student data and maintain records of academic performance.

  • Specialist Support: HLTA's often have expertise in specific subjects, areas of learning, or special educational needs. They may provide specialized support to students with learning difficulties, disabilities, or English as a second language (ESL) needs.

  • Classroom Management: They support the teacher in managing classroom behavior, implementing behavior management strategies, and promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Professional Development: HLTA's may participate in professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge, staying updated on best practices in education and learning new instructional techniques.

  • Team Collaboration: They collaborate with teachers, other support staff, and external professionals to support student learning and well-being. This includes attending meetings, sharing insights, and contributing to collaborative planning efforts.

  • Cover Supervisor: In some cases, HLTA's may also act as cover supervisors, overseeing classes in the absence of the regular teacher and ensuring that learning continues smoothly.

Overall, HLTA's play a crucial role in supporting teaching and learning in schools, providing valuable assistance to teachers, and contributing to the academic success and well-being of students.
