About the role
This post sits within the Fieldwork and Survey section which includes field archaeologists, geomatic surveyors and project managers. Working independently, the postholder will carry out archaeological survey, stake out trenches, process and disseminate survey data. The postholder is required to build and maintain effective relations with all members of the fieldwork and survey team, as well as staff from other ASE sections and ASE administrative staff. The postholder will be required to liaise with ASE project managers.
About you
You will have a degree or post-graduate qualification in Archaeology (or relevant subject) with previous employment in UK contract archaeology in either a survey or fieldwork related role. You will have an understanding of the principles of archaeological survey and sufficient previous experience to understand professional working practices. You will have the ability to use specialist survey equipment and be able to manipulate archaeological data using GIS or CAD software.
