About the Role Lawford Surgery are looking to recruit to aunique role which combines dispensary and reception duties. This is a part-time role with number of weekly working hours to be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate. The main responsibilities of the role include: Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GP's and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme; Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor; Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient; Manage ordering stock and stock control; Preparation of monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau; Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries; Monitor patients’ exemption status; Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication; Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager. This is a unique role combining dispensary and reception duties so will also include answering telephone enquiries and booking appointments. About the Candidate If you are an experienced dispenser looking for an exciting new role, then we'd love to hear from you. Working in a busy environment you must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be computer literate and a team player. Flexibility is essential to cover additional hours during holiday/sickness absence of colleagues to keep the surgery running efficiently. You will have the following skills and experience: You will have at least a Diploma Level 2 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification; Excellent clinical and medication knowledge; Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting; The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career; The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making; The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach; Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
