Job summary

Adferiad in partnership with St Giles Wise have launched afinance, debt, and welfare benefit service for people on probation (Male 18+).Funded by the Ministry of Justice, this exciting service provides exclusive financialwellbeing support to individuals who have been referred to the service by theProbation Service.

As our Financial Wellbeing Coach, you will provide holistic money advice to peoplereferred by the Parole Service who are experiencing financial difficulties. Use your existingknowledge and expertise to identify and address a range of issues and providedebt, financial capability and welfare benefit advice and support services topeople on parole. Take on case work when within ourremit on both welfare benefit, debt and financial wellbeing issues. Develop yourknowledge and experience of individuals on parole to set your advice in ameaningful context. Help clients identify the barriersthat are hindering progress in dealing with their financial difficulties.

Main duties of the job

Provide holistic money advice to people referredby the Probation Service who are experiencing financial difficulties.

Use your existing knowledge and expertise toidentify and address a range of issues and provide debt, financial wellbeingand welfare benefit advice and support services to people on probation.

Take on case work when within our remit on bothwelfare benefit, debt, and financial wellbeing issues.

Develop your knowledge and experience ofindividuals on probation to set your advice in a meaningful context.

Help clients identify the barriers that arehindering progress in dealing with their financial difficulties.

Provide help, support, and advice to overcomethese barriers.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Work as part of a team to ensure smooth deliveryof the service and excellent client care.

Ensure systems are used in a way that enablesthe management to monitor and evaluate the project.

Use your expertise in money advice andunderstanding of people on probation to ensure high quality service provision.

Continue to develop your knowledge of financialwellbeing, welfare benefits and money advice to meet the needs of the service.

Take on feedback from a variety of stakeholdersand contribute to innovative changes and adaptations to service delivery.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

Must be familiar with relevant legislation, regulation, guidance, codes of practice and industry standards. Wide range of money advice knowledge; budgeting, dealing with priority and non-priority debts, County Court/High Court options, insolvency options and a wide range of welfare benefits. Knowledge of telephone systems and options of providing advice remotely.

Desirable

An understanding of Quality Assurance processes.

Skills

Essential

Must be proficient, in and have well-developed IT skills comfortable using Microsoft Office packages and bespoke databases such as AdvicePro. Must have excellent organisational skills. Must be able to ensure accurate and reliable administration of a service. Must have a problem-solving approach. Must be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Must be able to prioritise and organise workload. Must have the ability to work flexibly, under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Desirable

An understanding and knowledge of the barriers faced by people with complex and multiple needs as well as relevant specialist support services.

Experience

Essential

Recent experience providing money and/or welfare benefit advice, either face-to-face or via telephone.

Desirable

Experience of working with or providing support to people on probation.

Qualifications

Essential

Evidence of Training in money and/or welfare benefits advice from an accredited training provider.

Desirable

Higher level certificate in money and/or welfare benefit advice from accredited (, IMA, CPAG, Wiser Advisor) providers is desirable.
