As we continue our mission to make people and nature happy through chocolate, we’re looking for a E-Commerce Manager to join our brand-new US team on a 6-month fixed term contract.

This role will be based in the UK , and we are open to a conversation around location, as long as you are able to travel to our Head Office in Royston , Hertfordshire when required.

Salary paying up to £68k per annum.

As one of the first hires for Hotel Chocolat’s US business, you will own and manage Hotel Chocolat’s dedicated US website, with responsibility for e-commerce revenue, on-site customer NPS and brand discovery. You’ll spend your time focused on opportunities to create engaging and effective digital journeys that improve conversion rates and brand engagement, driving digital sales and improving the digital experience. You’ll work closely with the GM, Digital and marketing team to develop and execute strategies to improve digital sales & margin performance whilst maintaining premium brand experience.

What You’ll Be Doing….

Responsible for delivering e-commerce revenue & gross profit targets. Own the dedicated US website platform (Shopify), ensuring that performance, UI, functionality & usability are best in class. Develop and execute strategies & tests to drive online sales growth, increase conversion rates, improve subscription conversion and retention, and improve customer engagement. Analyse traffic and sales data to identify opportunities to improve digital performance through merchandising, messaging, UX and more. Manage on-site SEO optimisation and work with the UK digital team collaboratively to optimise traffic management. Collaborate with marketing to develop and execute digital marketing campaigns that drive traffic and sales. As our customer base grows ensure that the onsite experience supports existing customer journeys and personalised experiences including automation and triggered activity campaigns. Collaborate with the brand team, UK marketing and Saint Lucia marketing to maintain an engaging brand experience on the website that brings our stories front & centre. Provide weekly and monthly performance updates against KPIs, with actionable insights to take forward into implementation. Work with the GM, Digital to develop and maintain annual forecasts & budgets for the e-commerce business. Analyse sales performance to ensure product assortment, pricing, and merchandising strategies align with e-commerce objectives. Maintain a rolling forecast of stock requirement for e-commerce channel, collaborate with operations team to ensure sufficient supply and operational preparedness. Work with operations on seasonal delivery experiences and timing to ensure that we can optimize sales whilst maintaining customer experience. Monitor trends & best practices in the e-commerce & subscriptions industries as well as the chocolate market to recommend initiatives to enhance our online presence.

Who You are…

Essential

Demonstrable experience of website management and optimisation for a D2C brand. Proven track record of developing e-commerce growth strategies that have increased sales and profitability of a Shopify based e-commerce channel. Strong technical skills with high level of proficiency in Shopify and a working familiarity with web development languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, Liquid) Hands on experience designing and executing experiments to increase conversion rates and optimise website performance. Strong analytical skills and data fluency to interpret traffic and sales data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.

Desirable

Experience with a US focused direct to consumer brand and understanding of US consumer behaviour. Good understanding of UI and web-design fundamentals and experience of having put them into practice. Proven commercial acumen with good numerical skills with ability to build and maintain forecasts across sales, KPIs and product. Experience working in a start-up environment. Experience with digital marketing tactics such as SEO, SEM, email marketing, and social media advertising. Resilience and track-record in creative problem solving. Experience with subscription-based models.
