If you are passionate about making a real difference through supporting vulnerable young people we would love to hear from you
We have an especially adapted property in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea - Beacon House where we support 16 customers (from ages 16-24 years old) who for a variety of reasons are currently homeless. Our customers have a range of support needs and have access to support from us 24 hours a day. The service aims to support young people to improve on their independent living skills, whilst rehabilitating them back into the community. When customers move in, we use the Recovery Model to empower them to make decisions about their support and our person-centred approach enables them to identify their existing strengths and skills so they can achieve their goals and aspirations. We firmly believe customers can move beyond their current support needs and achieve their full potential by developing new skills and accessing opportunities.
Your job role will vary and no one day is the same Your working week could include supporting customers with immigration applications, helping them to access support for substance abuse, watching a movie or cooking a new recipe in the lounge or going on a wellbeing walk to our local parks In particular this role’s focus is running regular activities for the young people in the service.
Whilst with us customers engage in developing life and independent living skills (including building self-esteem, fostering positive relationships, cooking, and budgeting) and therapeutic activities such as art workshops and gardening.
Support into education, training or employment is tailored to individual needs, circumstances, and goals on various levels; from initial advice and volunteering, to signposting to education, courses, apprenticeships, and paid work. Our work is complemented by joint working with local agencies and specialist support services where appropriate fostering and promoting our support around well-being and self-care, mental and physical health, life skills, education, employment and training.
We’re looking for those who are passionate about making a difference to people’s lives, including supporting vulnerable young people to achieve independent living and better manage life issues. We are looking for people who have knowledge of safeguarding issues and how they apply in day-to-day work. Due to the nature of the roles, you’ll need an understanding of the reasons why people become homeless and the needs and challenges they face and of statutory and voluntary resources available to homeless people. Experience working or voluntary in this sector would be beneficial but is not compulsory.
You will need to have the correct right to work in the UK in place, as Evolve does not have a sponsorship license.
Please ensure that your answers give a clear outline of how your application meets the criteria for this role using the included job description and person specification.
You will need to be able to work shifts on a pre-planned rolling rota - this role requires you to work two weekend shifts one week and three shifts the following weekend.
In return, we can offer you:
- Over 6 weeks holiday per annum (rising with service)
- Ability to buy or sell additional one week holiday per annum
- Employer paid DBS checks
- Occupational sick pay
- Employer contributory pension scheme
- 4 x Life Assurance
- Medical Cash Back Plan
