The Role

We are currently looking for an RF Engineer to join our growing Hardware team in our Livingston/Bathgate Design centre.

What you will do?

You will serve as the go-to person for everything related to RF design and test development in the EMEA region. You will be responsible for successful hardware development for a range of applications in healthcare, life sciences and space sectors from communications, microwave heating to RF sensing and intelligence. Projects range from proof-of-concept through to manufacturing and operational use. This is a very dynamic role: While there will be times that it you will be focused on RF front-end design, there will also be periods that you will draw on your deep understanding of your RF knowledge to lead development t of test solutions. Additionally, you will be able to direct and train the test engineers to support the testing activities and any debugging needed. You will be able to derive technical performance specifications from high level use cases, even if these are not well defined. You will be able to work well with customers and internal stakeholders to understand use cases and communicate ideas. You will be able to collaborate well with other technical specialists and enable them to contribute to the design process.

What we are looking for? (Skills and experience)

We are seeking an experienced and versatile RF Engineer to join our team in Bathgate location (Livingston Design centre). The successful candidate will be a hands-on professional with expertise in RF engineering, willing to contribute to various tasks including quoting, design and development, testing, and debugging. The role will involve working closely with Product Development, Product Commercialization, and Manufacturing teams before we can expand the RF team.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with customer and cross-functional teams to develop product requirements and design specificationsDesign and develop RF and wireless systems and componentsCapture RF test requirements for characterization and performance verificationDevelop test plans, procedures, and reports for RF systems and componentsConduct lab test including over the air RF chamber testingProvide technical expertise and guidance to engineers in the test engineering teamSupport business development team on quoting for new business opportunities and participate in bid development

Requirements:

Degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldAt least 5 years of experience in RF engineering, with hands on experience on testingStrong understanding of RF circuit design principlesGood understanding of antennas, waveforms, signal processingExperience with electronically steered antenna arrays design is desiredExperience of EM and large-signal RF simulation design tools (e.g. HFSS, CST, ADS, Altium, PCB tools)Experience with RF lab equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and vector signal analyzersKnowledge of RF chamber testing, calibration, and performance verification techniquesExcellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skillsAbility to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
