Job summary

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will work closely with patients, their families, friends, and carers. You will be essential in ensuring those who use our services have a positive experience and work as part of our dedicated teams comprising of nurses, healthcare support workers, activity coordinators, social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists.

We currently have vacancies available on:

*Acute mental Health ward - Melbury Lodge, Winchester

*Forensic mental health wards -- Ravenswood, Fareham and Southfields, Calmore

*Children and Adolescents mental health wards -- Tatchbury Mount, Calmore

You need only apply once for a role to be considered for a number of HCSW roles across the trust. If you have a particular interest working in a geographical area or ward unit, please add this to your supporting statement.

We require candidates to be flexible across all shift patterns, including weekdays, weekends, nights and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

Candidates applying for these positions will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, using them to engage, persuade or negotiate with clients with complex, at times challenging needs to ensure they are provided with appropriate care and support. Working as a HCSW on our mental health inpatient wards you will be involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients. You will be working alongside registered nurses to provide; nursing care, helping your patients (both male and female) with daily living tasks, to sometimes include personal care and other activities. Daily tasks may include.

Support the nursing and wider team to provide clinical tasks.

Therapeutic observations

Physical health monitoring

Providing emotional support to patients

One to one observation for patients who present a high risk due to a clinical condition.

Ensuring that the ward environment is clean and safe preventing infection and falls.

Record changes to a patient's condition and escalate to the registered nursing team.
