Specific Areas

The appointee will work full time in the Early Pregnancy & Gynaecology Assessment Unit Princess Royal University Hospital under the direct supervision of Miss Magee and Miss Appiah.

Clinical Organisation or Key Relationships

The 12 month post (subject to satisfactory review at three months) being recruited will commence in September 2025.

It is envisaged that the appointee will contribute to the development and delivery of aspects of these services depending upon their interests and experience.

Main duties of the job

This is a post giving the appointee the opportunity to develop skills in using transvaginal ultrasound for the diagnosis and management of early pregnancy problems, acute gynaecology, gynaecological cancer and general gynaecological problems. 

The post holder will be engaged in working in the Early Pregnancy and Gynaecology Assessment Unit and will be given full training in the use of transvaginal ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of gynaecological conditions. They will also have the opportunity to take part in research projects involving the use of ultrasound in the non-invasive assessment of gynaecological disorders. The post may involves provision of a morning weekend service in the Early Pregnancy Unit one weekend in three, subject to expansion of services. The successful candidate should have attained at least the competencies required by the end of ST2 year of obstetrics and gynaecology, part 1 MRCOG or equivalent and full GMC registration and have two years’ experience of working as a doctor in the UK.

You have a general duty of care for the health, safety and well-being of yourself, work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post.

You are required to observe the rules, policies, procedures and standards of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations.
