WHAT TO EXPECT

Join our team as a Switch Gear & Display Engineer Contributing to our journey towards modern luxury enabled by technologies that integrate seamlessly with the vehicle, delivery features and functions that are intuitive and customer-focused.

User controls are a department within Electrical Engineering and are responsible for delivering HMI devices. These include electro-mechanical devices, HMI software and electronics. Examples include integrated audio and HVAC control panels, electronic transmission selector modules, column and steering wheel-mounted switches and cabin switches.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities 

In this role, you be responsible for delivering the vehicle interior design and perceived quality attributes, as well as delivering all the functional and electrical requirements. You will work closely with suppliers and internal JLR stakeholders to develop best-in-class products.

Further duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Ensuring all programme design solutions meet Programme targets for cost, quality, power consumption and weight. Manage components through the Optical Quality and PCPA processes and ensure all appropriate JLR standards are met throughout design maturation. Creation & maintenance of vehicle test plans – detailed planning of test & development. Resolve issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams across all the manufacturing sites.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Essential:

Extensive experience in developing and delivering automotive electronic products. Experience in leading the resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment. A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes. Experience in a design environment working at least in one of the following areas: Interiors, infotainment systems, door locks, seat movement, Gear shift, electrical buttons or the equivalent. Excellent interpersonal skills and can clearly articulate technical issues to all levels.
