Job summary

The Division of Diagnostics and Clinical Support Services is recruiting for Health care Support Workers Bed Based Services, wards 21B, 27 (GP led stepdown) and Elmhurst

This is an exciting time for Bed Based services, as working alongside Ward 27 and Elmhurst Intermediate care Centre in Winsford, we will be working to create a seamless transition from the Acute Trust to Primary care.

Main duties of the job

Opportunities have arisen for Band 2 HCA's to join an exceptional team of multidisciplinary staff who will work together under the direction of the Ward Manager. The team will focus on facilitating the safe and timely admission, rehabilitation and discharge of this transitioning group of patients. Catering for a diverse age range, patients will be assessed for and admitted to Ward 21B to undergo a period of therapeutic rehabilitation to restore physical functionality following acute injury, illness or planned intervention.

MCHFT provides a full range of local hospital and community services for people across East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester boroughs (population 357K). The Trust provides high quality planned and unplanned/emergency care, cardiac and critical care as well as child health, maternity services, and intermediate care across our sites at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford.

The Trust provides 500 beds and employs over 5,000 members of staff. An extensive range of community services is provided across 26 medical centres and schools by our community arm, Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership, in collaboration with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS FT and the South Cheshire and Vale Royal GP Alliance.

With the formation of Integrated Care Systems in July 2022 the Trust became a strategic partner in both Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester 'places' and is part of the Cheshire and Merseyside partnership caring for a population of over 2.7million. Job description

Job responsibilities

The HCA role is an integral part of the team and primary responsibilities include leading ward services such as catering, cleaning, equipment and supplies. The work can include:

Assisting the Therapy team with the physical rehabilitation of patients talking to and reassuring patients Infection control keeping the ward clean and tidy serving and clearing away meals Personal care receiving visitors Providing and supporting the patients to participate in activities to stimulate their physical and mental state.
