Job summary

We are looking for enthusiastic colleagues to join our high quality, dynamic Radiology department at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals on the degree apprenticeship for diagnostic radiography, supported via a local University .

Training will take 36 months to complete. On successful completion of the academic modules and competencies in practice and HPC registration with the HPC, the salary will be the agenda for change band 5 pay scale.

Certificate check - 11th to 17th December 2024

Interview Date - 9th January 2025

Main duties of the job

Over the course of three years you will combine the theory of radiography, supported through the university and the practical elements of working as a radiographer in order to attain a BSc in diagnostic radiography qualification.

You will work a combination of long, short days, weekends and nights to gain a full experience of diagnostic radiography, the patients and services we provide, from plain film, theatre and mobile, screening with exposure in speciality areas over the three year period.

The main responsibilities of this post is the willingness and ability to complete the diagnostic radiographer degree within the three year time scale. To learn and undertake a wide range of imaging examinations and to provide a quality service for all referrers and to the patients they refer.

Through appropriate supervision act as an operator under the Trusts IR(ME)R 2017 procedures and undertake a range of imaging examinations and procedures as per the departments technique protocols. You will be required to participate in rostered duties as are deemed necessary, providing a 24-hour service.

You will be exposed to a number of different working areas and you will need to deal effectively with patients in a variety of environments Intensive Care Unit, Resuscitation Room, Coronary Care and to maintain a professional demeanour in potentially distressing circumstances.

3 GCSE's at grade C or above including mathematics, English Language or Literature and one science subject or equivalent plus one of the following: 1) 120 UCAS points from 3 A Levels (including at least 40 points from either Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics) or BTEC qualification in related subject or Access to HE Diploma in Health Studies, Health Science, nursing or another science based course, or a previous degree in related subject or evidence of science in your academic profile 2) Access - Approved access to HE Diploma 3) A previous degree in a related science subject with a with honours Other qualifications that will be assessed on an individual basis and may meet the entry requirements in part: Professional qualifications at level 5 Diploma or above in a related area Level 3 qualification or even vocational experience learning may also be considered.
