Job summary

Individuals who have been diagnosed with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) are at much greater risk than those without SMI, of developing complex Physical Health conditions such as diabetes, respiratory problems, heart conditions and cancer. It is therefore essential that although we are a Mental Health trust, we also closely monitor the Physical Health of this vulnerable group of patients to ensure they receive appropriate care.

This role will involve supporting the SMI Physical Health Team for Norfolk & Waveney, in streamlining and restructuring appointment systems, alongside improving the referral pathways into our service and the follow up communication with our Primary Care colleagues. You will play a central part in helping to develop a well organised Team to achieve consistency of care across Norfolk and Waveney.

This role provides an opportunity for flexible working practice

Main duties of the job

Working with the Physical Health Team Lead to restructure the organisation of care delivery

Developing new appointment systems and maintenance of same.

Supporting Clinical Staff with Appointment Bookings

Data extraction to support audit

Ensuring that records are updated appropriately.

Provide Administrative guidance and support for clinical staff

Monitoring of referrals into the service

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Pitman/RSA III Typing / Word Processing or equivalent secretarial experience at advanced level NVQ 3 Business Administration or equivalent or willing to work towards

Experience

Essential

Understanding and experience in a full range of secretarial procedures and systems gained through senior level. Working under pressure Working on own initiative without supervision.

Skills

Essential

Excellent articulate communication skills Interpersonal skills including taking a proactive diplomatic approach and ensuring confidentiality at all times. Ability to co-ordinate and prioritise management diaries

Knowledge

Essential

Working knowledge of Microsoft packages or equivalent. Maintaining administrative / secretarial systems

Desirable

Knowledge of NHS policy / procedures
