A secondary school in Southampton is currently seeking a Key Stage Mentor to join their team and play a vital role in creating a positive learning environment. The chosen candidate will be responsible for promoting high expectations, managing student behaviours, and supporting the school's ethos of 'every child can.'

Key Purpose:

  • Promoting high expectations of all students and ensuring they are 'ready, respectful, and safe.'
  • Coordinating the administration of the Expectations Policy and supporting students in meeting these expectations.
  • Being the first point of contact for student concerns related to behaviours and expectations, ensuring appropriate support is provided.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing and responding to student behaviours, triaging and allocating support as needed.
  • Conducting regular site walks during lesson times and breaks to monitor and support student behaviours.
  • Tracking and monitoring student behaviours to identify trends and implement effective interventions.
  • Communicating with parents, carers, and external support services as necessary.
  • Playing a role in rewards and recognition initiatives to celebrate student achievements.
  • Supporting strategies to improve attendance and reduce truancy.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or education-related positions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours and support students effectively.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding protocols and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work during school hours and engage with various stakeholders.
