We are looking for a forward-thinking nurse to lead our gynaecology ward and day case unit who will work collaboratively alongside the lead for the gynaecology and early pregnancy assessment unit (GEPAU) to provide transformational care. The department is made up of the Gynae ward - an 18 bedded unit and a day surgery area and the Gynaecology and Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit comprises a scan room, 3 assessment rooms, an ambulatory room and soon to be dedicated bereavement space. The Gynaecology ward provides a full range of inpatient gynaecology and early pregnancy services for planned and emergency care, diagnostics and treatment including surgery when needed. This opportunity has been created to ensure that high quality care is offered to those who need it, in line with the Women's Health Strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and dynamic nurse looking for their next career progression. The unit manager will be responsible for building close working relationships with all members of the MDT in order to ensure a seamless patient journey and experience whilst working alongside the existing ward manager in the gynaecology and early pregnancy assessment unit and Matron, whose joint aim is to provide outstanding care.

Main duties of the job

The Unit Manager has overall responsibility for the provision of excellent care with compassion for patients, relative and visitors who are cared for within the unit

To ensure the provision of excellent care with compassion the unit Manager is responsible for:

ensuring that the nursing team and care support team within their ward or department are adequately resourced and organised. ensuring the nursing team and care support team are adequately supported and developed to deliver excellent care with compassion in line with the Trust's Values & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework. leading and developing the department nursing team by being a visible and strong role model providing leadership and direction to the team, ensuring the productive operation of the unit through the monitoring and maintenance of standards that create a safe, clean and organised environment

You will be responsible for the highest standards in safety, quality and clinical governance, whilst delivering outstanding patient care. You will be required to bring the team together, motivate them and ensure the team work well together to provide a seamless service for patients attending for routine and emergency care.

The post holder is will be required to work across the MDT, leading and managing our nursing teams in collaboration with the existing post holder to maintain high standards of nursing care whilst maintaining the wellbeing of our nursing team.

Qualifications & Education

Essential

oAppropriate NMC Registration oMentorship qualification oPost Registration Qualifications relevant to the role oDiploma or Degree in Nursing oEvidence of Education to Degree Level

Desirable

oLevel 4 ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) or equivalent

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

oAble to perform clinical duties commensurate to that of the role IV medications, Cannulation oAbility to Implement changes within nursing practice oKnowledge of Clinical Governance and Safeguarding and the relevance of these to practice oKnowledge of relevant policies and procedures oEvidence of clinical competence in area of speciality surgery day care.

Desirable

oKnowledge of the PDPR Process oEvidence of working at Band 7 oExperience of budgetary management oEvidence of HR knowledge and processes, Eg. Performance management, sickness and attendance.

Skills & Abilities

Essential
