Trials Assistant – Graduate Trainee Programme

About the role

The post is a graduate trainee programme designed to provide a springboard to future careers in Clinical Research.

Alongside on-the-job training, the CTC will fully fund a PG Cert in Cancer, which can be converted into a MSc in the second year the MSc programme completed on a modular basis.

The main purpose of the post is to support the trial team in all administrative tasks and be a key point of contact for hospitals participating in our trials. The post holder will also assist in developing standard practices within the CTC and in problem-solving.

The PG Cert / MSc will be completed concurrently with the duties and responsibilities described below. The post holder will complete tasks and training in how trials are run from conception to closure. Including trial administration, data management, trial management, monitoring, auditing, pharmacovigilance and Patient and Public Engagement and Involvement (PPIE). Over the two-year period the post holder will go through short placements with each of the trial groups (each group covers a different cancer type), and the regulatory and pharmacovigialance teams. 

At the end of the two-year programme, depending on availability, candidates will be invited to apply for other roles at the CTC, with the aim of continuing their career within the trial’s unit.

It is anticipated that the time commitment split will be approximately work 60%: study 40%.

This post is funded for two years in the first instance.

About you

The graduate trainee programme is open to graduates who are eligible for UK student fees, with an upper second-class Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as life sciences or medicine,

The successful applicant will need apply for the UCL PG Cert in Cancer upon receiving a conditional offer for this post. 

Appointment to this post will be dependent on obtaining and accepting an offer on the PG Cert/MSc Cancer programme.
