Job summary

Community Arts Psychotherapies Post (Band 7)

CNWL is a specialist in mental health and addictions services, as well as eating disorders, learning disabilities, offender care and physical community health care.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 2 day a week post in the NKCW Community Arts Psychotherapies team. The post holder will be required to conduct assessments and deliver evidenced based interventions for complex trauma and psychosis

The role involves close liaison with the North Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea mental health hubs, and inpatient unit; identifying referrals and conducting psychological assessments , and liaison with other professionals involved in service users' care. The post holder will be required work autonomously and manage a complex caseload.

Significant interest and experience of working with personality disorder is desirable, as is experience, of, and an interest, in research. Main duties of the job

The Westminster Arts Psychotherapies Service consists of a large and diverse team of therapists, providing music, art, drama and dance-movement therapy for adults with mental health needs in Westminster across a variety of inpatient, outpatient and community services. Monthly team meetings including CPD provision take place on a Thursday morning. Specialist clinical supervision is provided within the Trust.

Job responsibilities

Experience of lead professional work. Substantial experience and training of delivering MBT interventions for complex trauma Substantial experience of conducting assessments and formulation.Evidence of Continued Professional Development since qualifyin To provide evidence-based arts psychotherapies including assessment, formulation treatment and evaluation of group and individual work for patients within specialist local community mental health hubs for a range of diagnoses including complex trauma and psychosis. To develop skill in, and facilitate mentalization based group/individual art psychotherapy for service users who have been assessed within the CEN pathway, and considered appropriate for this approach. Undertake the supervision of students. Undertake arts therapy/psychotherapy research/audit as per the Trust research strategy for the arts therapies/psychotherapies and participate in research and audit at the Waterview Centre. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

Good honours degree in Art/Music/Drama/Dance or equivalent performing/work experience MA/MSc in one of the Arts Therapies/Psychotherapies State Registration with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) Relevant specialist training or qualifications (if not taken into account in experience cited below).

Desirable

Other related academic qualifications psychoanalytic psychotherapy, or Group analytic training. Clinical supervision training Advanced keyboard skills Training in breakaway/de-escalation techniques

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Essential

Significant experience of autonomous working with Personality Disorder and Psychosis both in groups and individually. Experience of being sole arts therapist in a community setting. Training in MBT Significant Community Arts Psychotherapies experience Experience of working with people with disturbed and challenging behaviour Experience of supervising arts therapists/psychotherapists and of liaison with the university training courses, in own speciality and other specialist areas Evidence of participation in research (can be as part of MA/MSc/MMT training). Experience of personal therapy.

Experience of negotiating space/therapeutic boundaries in a difficult context Experience, Interest and commitment in conducting research

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES

Essential

Skills in planning, organising and prioritising own workload. Knowledge of and skills in assessing clients for arts therapy/psychotherapy and/or other treatment interventions. Knowledge of and Skills in assessing risks and contributing to diagnosis. Ability to work with people with complex needs unstable/suicidal patients, including those with personality disorder or a mixed diagnoses To work with risk confidently and creatively Excellent community liaison skills
