Role: Team Leader, Lowestoft Supported Living

2 positions available: 1x 30 hours, 1x 37 hours per week

Rate of Pay: £12.97 per hour (enhancements for Sundays, Bank Holidays and sleep-ins)

Working Patterns: these can include, morning, evening, daytime, weekend, sleep ins and waking nights. You will be expected to perform roles and responsibilities through working with our customers and through working in the office.

Start date: to follow our rapid induction, our next start dates are 5th August

We are looking for a Team Leader who has the skills to mentor, motivate and coach a staff team delivering daytime support to adults with learning disabilities.

You will act as a link between support staff and management and be the first point of contact for employees. You will role model, develop and embed positive culture and exceptional working practices to ensure consistent and efficient service our customers deserve.

This role is an exciting opportunity for a person to develop the skills necessary to lead a team of Support Workers. This will be achieved by promoting and demonstrating good practice to those you work with.

Leading Lives provides social care support for people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs in the home and in the community across Suffolk and neighbouring counties. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise, owned by our employees. Any surplus we make is reinvested back into services for our customers or into the local community.

The first role is 37 hours (18.5 office based and 18.5 in the customers houses and the second being 18.5 hours per week (9.5hrs office based and 9 hours in the customers houses). When in the customers houses they will be expected to support them and role model excellent quality service to the customers, this will be hands on) Both roles are shift based. Office days are 9-5 or there abouts and shifts (when in the houses) which are worked out on a rota basis that run 2 weekly. They will be expected to work every other weekend, be available for sleep-ins should they be needed and lates. There is also always the possibility of picking more hours up in the customers houses as they please. You need to drive or have a reliable lift/use taxis etc and have a good understanding of learning disability and autism. You will expect to assist with personal care when and where needed.

About The Role

Accountabilities:

  • Act as a role model, with open, reassuring, positive and constructive feedback within the team

  • Become a care ambassador and promote care as a career choice

  • Act as a quality ambassador within the service to help drive culture change

  • Promote dignity in care and support across the team

  • Lead and support team members to perform the role safely and to the best of their ability

  • Support Business Support to fill gaps in rota, backfill shifts

  • Work shifts as part of the staff rota, be available out of hours to provide advice and support as required

  • Work alongside new recruits throughout their probation period

  • Carry out audits on finances/medication (where applicable)

  • Seek feedback from customer about the support they are receiving

  • Develop care plans and outline care and support individual service user needs

  • Participate in/lead team meetings

  • Support the Service Manager(s) to manager the workplace in line with standards and legislation

  • Create and develop new opportunities in the service and community for people to access

What you need:

  • You’ll have earned your RQF Level 3 Award in Social Care (or equivalent qualification).

  • Good literacy/numeracy for completing reports and maintaining records

  • Effective communication skills across a range of contacts

  • Substantial experience of working with people in a social care setting

  • Awareness of relevant human resource, health and safety and social care legislation

  • Practical experience of diversity, advocacy, person-centred approaches and confidentiality

  • IT literate

  • Approachable, dedicated, and hardworking

  • Ability to travel to different locations within the service (Suffolk)
