Head of Governance

Our client in the growing housing association industry is seeking a Head of Governance to join the team in London as soon as possible on a permanent basis with a salary of £74,000 on offer. This role comes with a great perks package.

What does the role entail?

Working as the Head of Governance your main role purposes will be:

  • To act as the professional lead on all aspects of corporate governance, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements. This includes keeping up to date with, and advising on, any changes or developments in legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • To ensure compliance with the Association's Rules at all times and be responsible for advising the Chair, Board and CEO of all, or any, matters in relation to the Rules.
  • To ensure that corporate governance requirements and good practice are embedded in ways of working at Board, in committees and in the wider organisation.
  • To support the Chief Executive in developing and overseeing delivery of corporate strategy.
  • To act as the Company Secretary, Data Protection Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
  • To ensure the efficient administration of Board and Committee meetings, including agenda planning, minute taking and record keeping, and timely and appropriate communications to provide advice and support to members.
  • To oversee other meetings (e.g. SGMs) including annual governance and regulatory compliance reviews.
  • To provide advice to the CEO, Chair and Board as requested or where considered necessary and at all times to demonstrate and uphold the highest standards of probity and professionalism. To oversee PR and Communications and specialists appointed to deliver these services, including the production of the annual report and review.
  • The role holder will be a member of the Corporate Management Team.

What skills will you have?

The ideal candidate for this Head of Governance position should have the following experience/qualifications:

  • An appropriate company secretarial qualification (or equivalent)
  • A record of demonstrable achievement, at a senior level in a regulated environment, in the delivery of governance, risk and corporate services
  • Experience of managing significant technical and organisational change
  • Experience of working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to deliver excellence
  • Experience of collaborating and working as part of an effective leadership team
  • Experience of research, analysis and report writing to present papers to Boards, senior leadership meetings, committees and external bodies
  • Track record of developing and sustaining effective partnerships
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
