Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with a keen interest in mental healthto join the team at Horton Rehabilitation Service.

Horton Rehabilitation Service provides inpatient rehabilitation to adults with complex and enduring mental health. There are three units onsite consisting of two High Dependency Units and The Cottages which provides open/community rehabilitation.

We consider that occupational therapy is central to rehabilitation. The post holder will be based on one of the wards as an integral member of the ward multi-disciplinary team, working alongside medical staff, nursing staff, an activities coordinator, peer support worker, fitness instructor, employment specialist, psychology and arts psychotherapy colleagues.

You will need to be a motivated and flexible team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will hold a current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Horton Rehabilitation Service is based in Epsom, Surrey and is situated within spacious grounds and is a short distance from Epsom Town, providing good transport links, free onsite parking and access to local amenities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will develop, facilitate and evaluate therapeutic groups and individual interventions as a part of the multi-disciplinary ward programme.

The Occupational Therapy role is to provide assessment and intervention to individuals, identifying barriers to discharge and supporting individuals to enable optimum functioning throughout their admission and the right level of support when they leave the unit. This may include the assessment of activities of daily living, the use of standardised assessment tools, and prescribing equipment and making recommendations for future accommodation or care packages.

There is also the opportunity be involved in the CNWL Recovery and Wellbeing College by facilitating inpatient "snapshot" courses as part of the Horton Recovery and Wellbeing College Spoke. Liaising with colleagues from the College and co-facilitating with peer trainers, supporting the delivery of the programme of courses onsite.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy Registered Occupational Therapist with Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC).

Post graduate training specific to clinical specialty Practice Placement Educator's Course

Previous Experience

Essential

Undergraduate experience in mental health. Experience of using a range of standardised OT assessments moho Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team/environment Experience of working in a multi cultural environment. Experience facilitating group work

Experience in mental health as a qualified OT Experience of working with service users with enduring MH Lived experience' of either using mental health services or supporting someone who uses services
