The Polysomnographic Technologist works underthe general supervision of the medical director (M.D. D.O. or PhD)or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment ofsleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography diagnostic andtherapeutic services or patient care and education. ThePolysomnographic Technologist may provide supervision of otherstaff. A signon bonus of $3000 is available.

Essential Job Function

  • Gathers andanalyzes patient information to identify and meet patientspecificneeds and to determine final testing parameters/procedures inconjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director andlaboratory protocols.
  • Completes and verifiesdocumentation.
  • Explains pretesting testing andposttesting procedures to the patient.
  • Performs testing preparation procedures such ascalibration of equipment applying sensors and electrodes accordingto accepted published standards; performing appropriate physiologiccalibrations and performing positive airway pressure (PAP) maskfitting.
  • Performs polysomnographic proceduresfollowing established protocols to ensure the collection ofappropriate data and documents appropriately.
  • Follows lights out procedures to establish and documentbaseline values and lights on procedures to verify the integrity ofcollected data and complete the data collection process.
  • Performs data acquisition while monitoring studytracequality to ensure signals are artifactfree and makes adjustments ifnecessary.
  • Documents routine observationsincluding sleep stages and clinical events changes in procedure andsignificant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation ofpolysomnographic results.
  • Demonstrates theknowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide agespecificcare in the treatment assessment and education ofpatients.
  • Implements appropriateinterventions including actions necessary forpatient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuousbilevel positive airway pressure oxygen administrationetc.).
  • Oversees and performs difficult andunusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.
  • Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professionallyaccepted guidelines. Scores clinical events according tocenterspecific protocols. Assists with generating accurate reportsby tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
  • Complies with hospital and departmental policiesprocedures and regulations regarding safety and infection controlstandards as related to the job.
  • Performsroutine and complex equipment care and maintenance.
  • Evaluates sleep studyrelated equipment andinventory.
  • Demonstrates the hospitals statedmission vision and values of teamwork respect and communicationwith coworkers patients families and visitors.
  • Actively and appropriately participates in problemsolvingidentification and resolution both intra andinterdepartmentally.
  • Meets department customerservice standards and strives to enhance the level of customerservice provided.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 years recent Sleep Techexperience
  • MUST be a Registered/ CertifiedSleep Tech
  • Must be able to hit the groundrunning and work independently
  • Ability toperform EEGs
