Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for providing acupunctureto support clients undergoing rehabilitation to help support with painmanagement, sleep, anxiety and promote physical and emotional wellbeing.

STEPS is a purpose-built 23-bedroom, unique rehabilitation facility,able to deliver high-quality care from a range of medical and rehabilitationspecialists on Abbeydale Road, Sheffield. It is a unique environment thatprovides rehabilitation to clients who have suffered serious injuries anddebilitating neurological illnesses.
STEPS has been designed to feel non-clinical, comfortable and homely andwe hope you will agree STEPS is like no other care facility you will haveworked in. Our specialists work collaboratively under one roof and clients canaccess a wide range of therapies and specialist robotic and VR rehabilitationequipment. You will be working within our interdisciplinary team comprised of Consultantsin rehabilitation medicine; spinal injuries, amputations, anaesthetics, plasticsurgery and pain management, physiotherapists; occupational therapists; speechand language therapists; neuro-psychologists; neurologic music therapist;prosthetic and orthotic specialists and amongst other nurses experienced incomplex care. Job description
Job responsibilities
To work with and support aninter-disciplinary team of nurses, rehabilitation assistants, physiotherapists,speech and language therapists, psychologists and occupational therapistsdelivering care and rehabilitation.
Provide acupuncture within their individualsphere of competency, to meet client needs and in line with professionalprocedures and guidelines communicating sensitive condition related informationin an empathetic and reassuring way.
Work as part of a complementary therapy teamto assess client needs and in partnership with the client devise a treatmentplan to meet those needs.
Inform clients, carers and the STEPS teamabout the benefits and side effects of acupuncture as appropriate
Monitor and review the effectiveness of thetherapy given and modify as necessary
To work autonomously with support availablefrom a senior therapist as required.
Identifying any additional support needs andrefer to other health specialist as required.
To maintain accurate and contemporaneousdocumentation according to STEPS standards including clinical notes andreports.
To complete and update clients' reports whererequired within a timely manner.
To apply manual handling principles asoutlined by legislation and department procedures.
To provide supervision, support and guidanceto other members of the interdisciplinary team.
To contribute to service developmentinitiatives and always promote high quality care for clients.
To escalate issues as required followingSTEPS guidance and operating procedures.
To be compliant with the clinical governancerequirements operating within STEPS procedures.
To participate in clinical audits andresearch as and when directed by a supervising therapist.
To assist in carrying out procedures relatingto the personal care and nutritional needs of clients and assist in dealingwith emergencies as required.
To be flexible and able to offer support toother clinical areas as required.
To be able to deliver joint sessions withother therapists.
