An exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Community Mental Health Nurse has become available in the South Derbyshire and Dales Community Mental Health Team.

We are an experienced and professional team, dedicated to the goal of providing excellent care for the Older Adult population of South Derbyshire and Dales.

Due to the broad geographical area this post covers the post holder will need to demonstrate that they can travel within the area frequently, transporting Service Users as needed occasionally, without compromising service needs.

Main duties of the job

If successful, you will have the opportunity to:

Work with Service Users with both functional and organic illnesses, with the full support of the MDT. Carry a caseload of patients with varying needs and this will include depot injections. Use excellent assessment skills, risk management skills and communication skills; working towards building therapeutic relationships with both Service Users and their families/carers. Work as part of a knowledgeable, supportive and forward-thinking team who are committed to supporting and guiding learning and development. Work closely with our Voluntary partners, Primary Care and Our Care Homes project. Receive regular Clinical, Managerial and Peer supervision and access a wide range of development opportunities. We welcome applications from newly-qualified Nurses and offer an excellent Preceptorship programme. Have the peace of mind of knowing the Trust operates a fair and equitable mileage expenses scheme.

South and Dales OA CMHT is a welcoming, inclusive and diverse team, and the successful applicant will receive support through clinical and managerial supervision, peer supervision, the opportunity to utilise the psychology supervision and through the MDT.

Person Specification

Attainment/ Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse Degree/ Diploma in Nursing or equivalent experience Membership of a nursing professional body.

Knowledge/ Experience

Essential

Demonstrable knowledge of legislation relevant to Mental Health Working knowledge of the principles of CPA (Care Programme Approach) where appropriate Evidence of service receiver and carer involvement activity Commitment to recovery and person-centered practice

Desirable

Experience of working with people who have severe and enduring needs Experience of supervising staff and students
