Job summary

Following a review of the Health Board's Operational Structure, we have an exciting new role for an Assistant Director of Quality, Safety and Patient Experience within our new Allied Health and Health Science Clinical Care Group.

This is a key senior leadership post in the new structure providing clinical leadership as part of the new Clinical Care Group, working collaboratively across the health and social care system to support the delivery of high quality, sustainable and kind person centred care.

The post holder will report to the Clinical Care Group Service Director and will be operationally accountable to the Chief Operating Officer and professionally accountable Executive Director of Allied Health Professions and Health Science. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of improving quality, safety and patient experience, experience in health and care. The post holder will have extensive experience of people leadership, operational management and performance whilst ensuring value for money. You will be a skilled communicator, that is able to build relationships to lead and deliver change in line wit the Health Boards strategic plan.

As Assistant Director for Quality, Safety and Patient Experience, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, high quality and clinically effective patient centred care is delivered to patients by competency professionals within the resources available.

You will be responsible for a range of areas including quality, patient safety, policy implementation and service development to deliver on the Health Board agenda for continuous improvement within the new Clinical Care Group.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:

Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest.

Five community hospitals: Amman Valley Hospital and Llandovery Hospital in Carmarthenshire, Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire.

Two integrated care centres (Aberaeron and Cardigan, Ceredigion).

Community facilities, including:

48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Extensive knowledge over a range of disciplines Clinical, research, HR, Finance, Governance, underpinned by specialist courses or equivalent experience. Extensive knowledge of relative legislation and associated codes of practice. In depth professional specialist knowledge of a number of disciplines acquired through training and experience over a significant period.

Extensive experience of delivering demonstrably high-quality services and leading successful change in patient centred care delivery.
