The role

Defence Estate Optimisation is the single biggest estates change programme within Defence, bringing together an ambitious portfolio of interdependent programmes, construction activity, unit and personnel moves. Lendlease has secured a portfolio of projects across the Midlands. The role is to support as a Construction Lead in the planning programming scoping and procuring of the works. Initially working on support across all projects before focusing on one project in delivery.

What you will do

Support planning logistics phasing of all projects.Preconstruction development of programme; scoping and project controls set up including delivery management systems and online quality control systems.Recruit and develop construction teams in readiness for delivery.Lead early enabling and surveying works setting up projects ready for main contracts.Develop and encourage an Incident and Injury Free climate on site and in the supply chain and ensure that all health and safety obligations, process and procedures are allocated to and delivered by the construction operations teamThe Senior Construction Manager is accountable for the supervision, direction and monitoring of day to day operations on site, ensuring that all contractors are coordinated and working effectively to the construction programme and detail and delivering the required qualityMonitor the progress of construction works and amend the methodology in light of unforeseen circumstances to ensure that overall completion dates are safely metDevelop a clear plan of action to ensure contractors adherence to the Environmental Management Plan and monitor performanceActively participate in all team meetings ensuring communication of changes affecting Safety, methodology or logisticsConstantly review the build quality achieved with the team ensuring that the contract’s requirements in this regard are fully metEnsure build ability issues are considered and given appropriate priority at procurement stageEnsure accuracy of prelims with regard to safety, logistical issues and the management of environmental risksProduce a schedule of all statutory authorities and manage the process of engagement and notifications as requiredSupport the Project/Assistant Manager to establish and manage a series of meetings with all contractors to ensure that they are fully aware of the latest design information (instructions, Request for Information answers etc.)Responsible for pre-planning and development of the site safety strategy, including all aspects of logistics.In conjunction with contractors, prepare short term programme, linked to longer term deliverables, allowing contractors to plan the week aheadCommunicate and monitor safe delivery against weekly planResponsibility for demonstrating leadership, effective team working and contributing to the development of colleagues on the projectDevelop delivery metrics for all key trades packages and, working with the construction management team, ensure that actual delivery outputs are measured and reportedEnsure that the Construction operations processes and procedures are adhered to

What you will have

Technical construction/engineering skillsExperience of leading/managing a team of construction managers/site managers.Organisational skillsExtensive knowledge of operational safety systemsUnderstanding of site management principlesWritten and verbal communication to influence and build relationshipsAbility to influence and lead teamsExperience in high rise (8+ storey – residential projects)Experience in residential logistics planning and implementations – multi phaseSMSTS – 5 days
