Job summary

Successful post holders will undertake an extensive learning and practical working programme, to enhance current skills and knowledge within Haematology As a Trainee Advanced clinical practitioner you will undertake a combination of both on the job learning and academic study, completing a portfolio of work, alongside master's level modules with the full support of the chosen learning provider and the trust.

All Trainee ACP positions are offered on a temporary basis subject to completion of the competencies and academic requirements of the Apprenticeship. On successful completion of the Apprenticeship you will be guaranteed a position as a permanent qualified ACP within the Trust in the specialism you have completed your Apprenticeship.

This post is due to start in September and early release will be required to facilitate University commencement.

Main duties of the job

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will work autonomously as a practitioner. They will undertake clinical assessments for acute, emergency, and elective haematology patients. They will order and carry out investigations and initiate treatments within defined competence and protocols in collaboration with the senior clinicians and multi-professional team.

The ACP will lead, develop, implement, and evaluate the delivery of elective assessment services.

They will provide leadership and clinical support to nurses working in the service in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary and senior nursing team.

Please also note this vacancy is a training/development post so all applicants will start at Band 6 rising to Band 7 once the post holder has successfully demonstrated the completion of the relevant Advanced Practice Post Graduate Diploma, and a portfolio of evidence containing supervised learning events which demonstrate completion of the clinical element of the core curriculum outlined in the Multi-Professional Advanced Clinical Practice Framework (HEE 2017).

The successful candidate will rotate through all areas of Haematology, including Haematology day case unit. The person will work within a team but also on their own initiatives, they should enjoy a fast-paced challenging environment.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 3 years due to this being an apprenticeship/training programme. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts.

A learner/applicant must be a UK, EEA, or EU resident for at least the past three years to undertake an apprenticeship training programme.
