Job summary

This post is a targeted role with a specific focus on providing a trauma-informed, specialist CAMH service to Trafford's children in residential care and those on the Edge-of-Care. Trafford currently hosts two children's residential home's, one of which is complemented by an Edge-of-Care service which provides multiagency support to children and their families who are at-risk of being placed into local authority care. The partnership includes Social Care, Education, and Police working together to reduce this risk and improve outcomes.

The successful candidate will form part of the multiagency partnership to provide a dedicated specialist CAMH service including training, consultation, advice and support, and multiagency liaison. The postholder will also contribute to multiagency care planning around risk and safeguarding, impact risk assessments, and individual mental health and risk assessment and intervention. There will be a specific focus on supporting the teams to further develop their trauma-informed, relationship-based approach to service provision. The post holder will have an active clinical case load of those young people and their carers who are open to the Edge of Care Team.

This vacancy is for a post with Trafford CAMHS for Children in Care, and will be primarily based at the Kindle Lodge Outreach Team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in the Trafford District for the CAMHS for Children in Care team service and will see general referrals to the Department across the age range, with a broad range of presenting difficulties. The post holder will be based with the Kindle Outreach Team and will be responsible for delivering formulation driven and evidence-based interventions with children, young people and their carers. Intervention offers will include individual and groupwork, with opportunities to work jointly with other practitioners. There will be a specific focus on supporting the Kindle Outreach Team and staff in the Residential Children's Homes via regular consultation and therapeutic parenting interventions to maximise placement security and stability, with multi-agency liaison and consultation.

The post holder will have a range of skills and knowledge base to deliver clinical aspects of the role in a multi-disciplinary team setting and will be competent to do this work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines. This post entails teaching and supervisory duties to other professionals and junior staff and/or students and regular consultation to the wider children's service. The post holder is also expected to promote and develop partnerships and interface with other professionals and agencies that work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health THRIVE Framework.
