Position: React Native App Developer

Location: Manchester (Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Our client is a fast-growing fintech start-up based in Manchester, supported by leading venture capital firms and angel investors. With a flexible approach to remote work, they foster a dynamic, fast-paced environment that promotes innovation in financial technology. The team is passionate about using cutting-edge technology to address significant challenges in the financial services industry, with half the team working remotely from London and other locations.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and maintain high-quality React Native applications with well-structured, clean code.
  • Work closely with back-end developers using Scala to optimize API integrations and data flow between front-end and back-end systems.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and fellow Front-End and Back-End Developers to design and implement solutions that seamlessly integrate with the back-end infrastructure.
  • Embrace agile methodologies and engage in a culture of continuous improvement and team collaboration.
  • Contribute to daily problem-solving and coding sessions with fellow developers, optimizing app functionality in harmony with back-end data processing.
  • Proactively identify areas where back-end processes can better serve app functionality, bridging the gap between mobile front-end requirements and Scala-based back-end capabilities.

What We're Looking For:

  • A self-motivated, proactive developer who's excited to learn and tackle new challenges.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.
  • Proven experience in developing scalable, performant mobile apps using React Native.
  • Solid understanding of JavaScript and experience with related libraries and frameworks, including React and CSS.
  • Familiarity with Scala or a strong interest in understanding its integration with React Native apps, particularly in a fintech context.
  • Experience building apps that serve RESTful content and can process/ingest data efficiently.
  • B2B experience is preferred.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in banking/financial services (e.g., Open Banking, Secure Document Uploads, Verification AI, Electronic Signatures).
  • Experience with system integration, especially in fintech, and an understanding of how to work with and optimize Scala-based back ends.
  • Experience in collaborating with teams using functional programming, such as Scala, to streamline communication and data transfer between front-end and back-end.
