TheOpportunity
This is a great opportunity fora hydrogeologist to work within our Water & Hydrogeology Teamundertaking international mining development and impact assessmentstudies. The position is a fulltime position (to work in our Trurooffices. We are ideally looking for a Graduate for this appointmenthowever we would also consider candidates with 1 2 years relevantpostgraduationexperience.

Thewater and hydrogeology team are involved in a broad range ofprojects internationally. Overseas we help mining companies securefunding and safeguard local communities through our work onFeasibility Studies and Environmental and Social ImpactAssessments. We conduct groundwater modelling undertake siteinvestigations determine inflow and dewatering schemes and sitewidewater management. Additionally we produce water chapters forscoping studies and impact assessments for a variety of commoditiesand geographical locations.

The Truro water& hydrogeology team is comprised of 4 team members with avariety of skills and we work as an integrated part of a wider UKhydrogeological team numbering 14 including hydrogeologistsenvironmental scientists and hydrogeochemists. We are seekingsomeone who is able to:

Collate analyse andinterpret groundwater and surface water level and qualitydatasets;
Develop hydrogeological and hydrologicalconceptual site models for a variety of geological settings andfacilities including quarries mines and landfills;
Designdevelop and supervise groundwater drilling and sampling siteinvestigations;
Scope technical sections for projects andproposals;
Be able with appropriate supervision andtraining to undertake UK and overseas site work;
Work onsite unsupervised from time to time.

Forrecruitment at Graduate (entry) level we will provide on the jobtraining and guidance so there would be opportunity to develop newskills and capabilities over time.

Excellentwritten and organisational skills and a proven understanding ofbudgets and deadlines are amusthave.

You:
A successful candidatewill require:

  • Field experience of (orwillingness to learn) different drilling techniques in a variety ofgeological settings.
  • Field experience of (orwillingness to learn) the collection of groundwater and surfacewater samples as well as hydraulicparameters.
  • Working knowledge of analytical andnumerical groundwater modelling techniques with high numeracy andquantitative analytical ability.
  • Knowledge ofand familiarity with quarrying mining and landfills is anadvantage.
  • A relevant undergraduate degree inthe geological or environmental sciences orsimilar.
  • A relevant postgraduatehydrogeological qualification.
  • Familiarity withGIS and ability to edit and develop geomaticmaterials.
  • A full driving license and theability to drive for business purposes isessential.
