The Role

The Prescribing Management Team is responsible for strategic and operational advice across primary care in all matters relating to prescribing and medicines management. In this role you will provide pharmaceutical support and advice on safe and cost-effective prescribing, that is consistent and of a high quality, to various individuals in the relevant primary care locality and to the locality management team. You will influence and implement change in prescribing practice in line with the NHS Lanarkshire Primary Care Prescribing Strategy and lead a locality team of pharmacists and technicians. Applicants must have a Masters Degree in Pharmacy, be registered with the GPhC and have at least 5 years post-registration experience. A post-graduate Diploma/MSC in Clinical Pharmacy/Prescribing Science is desirable.

What we'll need you to bring

Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Minimum of 5 years’ post-registration experience as a pharmacist with a wide range of experience in different branches of pharmacy practice. Evidence of continuing professional development. Proven negotiation skills and the ability to motivate others and develop systems of work to address a variety of prescribing issues. Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrates a good understanding of national and local priorities in the NHS. The post holder should have a working knowledge of the common computer systems used in general practice and must be able to interpret prescribing data provided by PRISMS and PIS and information provided by Information and Statistics department in Edinburgh. A good knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes is essential. Knowledge of email and internet functions is also essential. Evidence of multidisciplinary working. Experience in provision of patient education/information. A relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g. Diploma in Prescribing Science or M.Sc in Clinical Pharmacy Practice) or equivalent experience.

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post. 

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Pharmacy/Prescribing within Bellshill Health Centre.

The working pattern for this role will be approved by the hiring manager.
