My clients based near the borders of SuffolkCambridgeshire & Essex are looking for a Mechanical DesignEngineer Precision Engineering / FibreOptics.

This role is commutable from CambridgeSaffron Walden Royston Dunmow Braintree Haverhill Newmarket BurySt. Edmunds.

This organisation designs &manufactures an extensive range of optical fibre based subsystemswith superior hermeticity & optical termination as well ashigh efficiency coupling of lases fibres &detectors.

The successful candidate will beworking on the design of fibre optic assemblies components andtooling to micron level tolerances and will be involved in a goodlevel of documentation databaseadministration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES &DUTIES:

Participate in the design anddevelopment process of new products creating necessary componentand assembly drawings and BOMs.

Undertakeengineering change activities to drawings models and BOMS ofexisting products.

Administering the designdocumentation control.

Define and create BOM andidentify part vendors.

Support the engineeringteam with the development of prototypes.

Designjigs and fixtures for manufacturing processes.

Develop setups and prove prototypes.

Provideinitial product qualification against appropriate standards andquality procedures.

Support product transfer toproduction and help with solving initial productionissues.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLSREQUIRED:

Essential:

Degree orequivalent experience in mechanical design engineering productdesign or a related field.

Industrial mechanicaldesign and new product development experience.

Proficient with 3D Cad software.

Workingknowledge of precision component design to micron leveltolerances.

Proficient with Microsoft Officesoftware.

Working knowledge of materialproperties and stress analysis.

Experienceidentifying and working with tooling and component suppliers tosource components necessary to meet requirements of thedesign.

Demonstrated teamwork skills in a smallcompany environment.

Excellent verbal andwritten communication.

Ability to manage severalprojects through effective planning and timemanagement.

Desirable:

Experience with fibre optic products development manufacturing andtesting.

Design for high tolerance machiningplastic moulding diecasting.

Proficient withCreo 3D Cad software.

Your current job title maybe Mechanical Designer Mechanical Design Engineer MechanicalDevelopment Engineer or similar.

Basic salary toc40k for the right candidate plus a range ofbenefits.

Tasks
