Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an unusual post - the post holder will deputize for the Training and Education Lead, as well as the Lead for Non-invasive . You must be a qualified and experienced cardiac physiologist who has experience in mentoring and assessment, who is confident to coach others in order to enable them to reach their full potential. You may not necessarily hold specialist accreditation but should hold a mentoring or teaching qualification (or be willing to attain within the first year). You should have a passion for training and mentoring.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible (under the supervision of the lead cardiac physiologist for that area) for ensuring a high quality and effective non-invasive diagnostic service, including undertaking quality assurance processes. They will also be responsible for the training and assessment of junior staff, including mentoring staff through Level 2 and 4 apprenticeship programmes.

Should you hold specialist accreditation in either Echo or devices then we will ensure that you are able to maintain your skills to a level to maintain your registration.

Job responsibilities

The department will have a total of 6 apprentices at levels 2 and 4, and hope to again support staff to access the level 6 apprenticeship in the future. We also host PTP, ETP and STP trainees. You will be expected to be involved in the training of all of these staff groups, and be responsible for the assessment of some.

We are able to support the post holder to undertake training and gain qualifications in teaching , mentoring and assessment if they do not already have these.

The post holder will also be expected to deputise for the Lead in Non-invasive services, and be responsible for implementing QA processes in the areas of ECG, ambulatory monitoring and ETT.

Qualifications

BSc ( Hons) Clinical Physiology (Cardiac) or BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac) or MSc Clinical Science or MSc in a relevant physiological science subject plus Certificate of Equivalence for Practitioner Training Scheme (PTP) from the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) Post graduate qualification

Teaching or mentoring qualification

Completed a recognised course of training and achieved voluntary state registration as a Cardiac Physiologist or Healthcare Science Practitioner or Clinical Scientist Proven experience of a range of non-invasive and invasive cardiac and respiratory physiology Is able to act as an independent specialist practitioner in these areas Developed in at least 2 of the following areas: Echocardiography or Cardiac Devices or Respiratory Physiology
