Do you have a strong desire to be part of the CTCCU education team?

We are currently looking to recruit a Clinical Practice Educator to join the Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit education team on a month fixed term contract. You will need significant experience in clinical practice in critical care and a PG Cert in Critical Care or a relevant post registration qualification.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, passionate about staff development and education, have excellent communication skills and be currently working as a Band in critical care or actively working towards a Band . Previous experience as Associate Clinical Practice Educator is desirable but not essential.

You will be working closely with the Practice Development and Educational Lead,the team of Clinical Practice Educators, the Band management team and the Divisional Lead for Practice Development and Education.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Practice Educator (CPE) will identify training needs, plan, implement and evaluate educational activities for new starter on CTCCU in order to achieve their Step One Competencies

The post-holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills commensurate with a clinical expert and effective leader; serve as a role-model; an agent of change and a facilitator of work-based learning.

Explicit within the role and the outcomes required of it, the CPE will work collegiately to ensure standards are established, implemented and sustained, particularly those related to staff knowledge, skills development and patient care

The Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit is a busy Critical Care Centre located in the purpose built Oxford Heart Centre at the Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust. It comprises of beds providing specialist services for Cardiac Surgical, Thoracic Surgical and Cardiology patients. The case mix is varied caring for patients requiring level and level support, with a mix of emergency and complex elective cases.
