We are looking for committed individuals who are keen tojoin the world of hospital pharmacy, and our friendly team, to make adifference to patient care, who are at the heart of everything in the pharmacy.We currently have opportunities in the pharmacy at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch.

You will often be the first point of contact for health careprofessionals across the hospital and members of the public using our service.You must be self-motivated, able to pay attention to detail, be able to work todeadlines and have strong communication skills.

An NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services or thedispensing assistant course qualification is desirable, however, full trainingwill be provided to successful applicants. Career progression to band 3and amore clinical role is encouraged and supported and we are committed toproviding flexible working opportunities.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team workingclosely with Pharmacists, Technicians and other Assistants.

You will have the opportunity as part of the assistant rotato work in all areas of the pharmacy. In the Dispensary, this will include dispensingmedication and reception duties. In our Stores and Stock Distribution areasthis includes receiving and putting away orders and supplying medication to thewards. You will also be part of the wider ward pharmacy teams replenishing themedications on the wards, via drug top ups.

You would gain skills within an aseptics environment toassist with the making of chemotherapy medication for patients.

All of these duties require a high level of accuracy, anability to work efficiently within each designated team, and flexibility toundertake varied tasks within your working day.

Job responsibilities

Duties are varied and may include:

Picking, packing and assembling medicines

Assistingin the dispensing of items within the dispensary, including Controlled Drugs

Working in the Pharmacy stores and stockdistribution receiving and processing orders

Manning the reception within the dispensary

Supplying medicines to wards and departments bymeans of a top-up

Duties within our sterile preparation suites

Delivery of medication to wards and departments

Replenishing specialist emergency boxes

Participate in established Bank Holiday andWeekend Rotas.
