Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and highly skilled Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to work within the Acute Medical wards at Fairfield General Hospital

As a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist within Acute Medicine, you will ensure that the team delivers a high standard of evidenced based care to patients admitted through the Acute Medical Pathway, facilitating patient flow and timely discharge. You will offer a person-centred approach to support patients with their recovery.

You will manage a caseload of patients with general medical conditions including respiratory, frailty and complex and long term conditions.

Alongside your peers you will support staff and service development

Main duties of the job

Within this role, you will work alongside an integrated team of Physiotherapists/Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants, working closely with the MDT based on the medical wards.

You will manage a complex and busy caseload of patients as a specialist in the holistic assessment and treatment of the needs of medical patients during their inpatient admission and facilitate their ongoing management and discharge into community services.

You will be committed to delivering a robust training programme within your own discipline and contribute to the training needs of others across our workforce.

You will supervise and support career development of junior colleagues and students.

You will support the Operational and Professional Therapy Lead with clinical governance action plans and service development and audit.

You will work autonomously within the Trust policy and professional practice, maintaining accurate and comprehensive up to date records.

The service operates over seven days and as such some weekend working and bank holidays is required as part of the role.

You will be expected to contribute to the respiratory Physiotherapy weekend working service on a rota basis.

Person Specification

Registration/Qualifications

Essential

Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent. HCPC registration Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio. Evidence of relevant post graduate training in relevant speciality. Willingness to undertake training in specialist area to master's level or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

Appropriate post-registration experience at a senior level Specialist knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support clinical skills Contribution to service and staff development Good working knowledge of clinical governance Experience of liaison with other professionals and partnership working Audit experience of own and others practice Basic understanding of computers and their applications. Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills. Able to present information in a clear and logical manner. Teaching, supervisory and appraisal skills and experience on a regular basis. Proven organisational skills including, time management, effective delegation and prioritisation. Ability to work autonomously within specialist clinical area. To comprehend and work within the Trusts policies of data protection, equal opportunities and Health and Safety to meet the differing needs of patients. Ability to work within a stressful and un-predictable environment.

Desirable

Research and Development experience. Knowledge/involvement of project working Previous experience undertaking band 7 role. Member of Professional Body ( CSP)
