Our service is rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. Julias House supports more than 140 families across Dorset and Wiltshire, in the community, at our hospices and in our families own homes. Nurses have the opportunity to spend time with the children and their families, developing strong relationships and meeting their individual needs. The successful candidate will have experience of caring for children with complex needs. You will have the ability to work both in a team and independently and work using your own initiative as well as accessing and contributing to the skill base of the wider team.

Main duties of the job

Qualification requirements: Applicants for this role must be a Registered Nursing Associate and have experience of working with sick children. You will be based at either our Dorset or Wiltshire Hospice and work across Wiltshire or Dorset in the homes of the children we look after. You will work with a team of Carers, Nurses, Team Nurses, Senior Team Nurses and Lead Nurses in a supportive environment.

As a Nurse Associate you will responsible for assisting in the delivery of high quality clinical nursing care to meet the diverse individual needs of the children and young people. You will have experience in nursing assessment, planning and delivering care which will be evidence based in conjunction with Julia's House policies and procedures to support delivery of safe care to children and young people with complex needs that will often change.

This role is a 35 hours per week permanent contract, although we may consider part time but a minimum of 28 hours is required. Flexibility is required to cover days, evenings, weekends, school holidays and occasional overnights. There are no set hours for contracted staff, our care is provided at the times requested by our families and is therefore variable. Rotas are prepared 6 weeks in advance.

Job responsibilities

As part of the Nursing Team, working in line with Julias House policies and procedures, provide family centered respite care both in the Hospice and Community for children who have life limiting and life threatening conditions. Work effectively in a team within the boundaries of the nurse associate role. Identify and acknowledge the need for escalation to a qualified nurse in all circumstances. When necessary, provide a flexible and responsive approach to support the requirements of end of life care. Role model Julias House Values and Behaviours at all times.
