Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible individual with strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills and the motivation to progress and gain further experience, for our Team Manager post in the Personality Disorder Community Service.

This post is based in either Peterborough or Cambridge, but at times will involve travel across Cambridgeshire.

The service is a NICE compliant specialist outpatient service which operates across all four localities within CPFT. The service has undergone an innovative redesign and is embarking on an exciting phase of delivering a high quality service which strives for excellence for its service users. We provide evidence based treatment protocols for clients with moderate to severe personality disorder which cover three main areas of impairment that the illness can present; namely psychological, occupational & social, with a specific focus on managing high chronic risk.

The treatment protocols are based on models of MBT, DBT and the Model of Human Occupation. There is an ethos of compassion for the lived experience of personality disorder and therapeutic optimism for long term recovery that runs throughout. We also offer consultation and training for services, as well as close working with GP's and primary care. We are committed to staff training, service evaluation and research.

This post is part of a leadership and management team that oversees and delivers the clinical, professional, and strategic aims of the service. You'll be joining a supportive leadership team that aims to enable high-quality services, provide development opportunities, and support staff to reach their potential.

We are searching for an individual with exceptional skills in self-management and organisation, who is confident in collaborating with and leading a team. Good IT skills and an understanding of data are necessary for the role. The role may require working independently, but regular support and contact will be provided by other team managers and the service manager.

The Team Manager will oversee the service and support the delivery/review and development of the care pathways.

You will be working closely with the senior clinical leadership, including the Consultant and Principal Psychologists and to think with those team leaders how we can make processes smoother and eliminate repetition and delays in the service user journey.

A key part of your role will be to lead a team that will be delivering psychoeducational groups and structured short-term interventions.

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operational aspects of the service ensuring clinical governance arrangements are in place providing clinical leadership for the service and supporting the day-to-day functioning of the team.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse/Occupational Therapist/Clinical Psychologist/Social Work qualification SSSA/Mentor qualification/ ENB 998 or equivalent HCPC or NMC Professional registration Professional qualification which supports the ability to provide psychological interventions or advanced clinical training CBT, CAT, DBT. Evidence of continued personal and professional development.

Desirable

BABCP accreditation Leadership Qualification Mental health-related MSc

Experience

Essential

Significant post-registration experience in working with people with complex health problems and mental health needs Evidence of experience in service evaluation and improvements. Demonstrated experience working on a quality improvement project. Demonstrated experience of providing psychological therapy. Experience in supervising staff. Experience in developing user and carer involvement strategies in service evaluation, development and the recovery process.

Desirable

Considerable experience in managing teams and staff Quality Improvement training and project management experience Experience with more than one leadership role Further training in team management/leadership

Skills & Abilities

Essential

Competent IT skills including Word, outlook, excel and PowerPoint. Ability to prioritise workload effectively, meeting expected deadlines. Advanced interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to communicate and work with a wide range of professionals. Ability to work effectively under pressure. High level of self-awareness, recognising own strengths and limitations. Ability to manage change and deal with conflict/stressful situations. Ability to follow instructions & support junior & senior staff.

Demonstrated experience in investigating SI's/complaints Experience in developing and leading new initiatives within the clinical care environment

Knowledge & Understanding

Essential

Advanced experience of leadership and managing teams. Specialist knowledge of psycho-social interventions and their appropriate use. Good knowledge of the policies and guidelines pertinent to the planning and delivery of care to adults with mental health needs. Awareness of the impact of the health economies on service planning and delivery.

Desirable

Knowledge of practical application and use of psychological therapies. Knowledge of service improvement models and its application. Knowledge of leadership theories.
