BAM Nuttall have an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant to join our Scotland team. As Project Accountant, you will be the financial lead on our Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) project; a circa £500m project to be delivered over 4 years, working closely with Operations & Commercial on a daily basis; key responsibilities will include maintaining project controls, supporting forecasting & budgeting, month end duties and regular review and reporting. The role will see you contribute significantly to a successful financial and commercial outcome to the project. In addition, the role will directly manage the on-site commercial assistants.

Your work environment

The role will initially be a hybrid working model with some travel to one of our regional offices Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Kilsyth, and Glasgow.

Your mission

As Project Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide accurate and accessible management information for all key stakeholders with a range of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports. Including providing any JV partner and client with accurate spend forecasts for budget management purposes
  • Will provide key support to the Order to Cash process working closely with both Operations and Commercial in maximizing cash. Specifically ensuring cash from out JV partner is transferred in a timely manner
  • Ensure reported positions are IFRS and Bam Accounting standards compliant
  • Year end point of contact for all audit queries
  • Support the ongoing forecasting and budgeting process within the company and playing a key role in project reviews
  • Accurately complete the companies in house CVR system (BMR) post monthly project reviews as part of the month end close procedure
  • Month End – Supporting the finance and commercial team to achieve month-end deadlines demonstrating accurate accounting records
  • Support the monthly application process, ensuring cost reports are accurately mapped to the client WBS structure, in line with contractual obligations
  • Support the Senior Business Controller during QF cycles to ensure accurate reporting and provide insightful variance analysis to the division
  • Build strong relationships with all key stakeholders including operations and commercial
  • Provide both general and ad-hoc support to the wider Scotland team and Senior Business Controller for the division
  • Carry out partner risk assessments for the project ensuring suppliers delivering on the project have a sound financial background
  • Supporting other projects within the wider Scotland division with financial support as and when required
  • Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy. Be aware and contribute in  "Your Safety is My Safety" vision
Who are we looking for?
  • Qualified Accountant
  • Strong communicator, able to elicit information from stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships within the finance team and across the business
  • Very strong excel skills and ability to work with large quantities of data
  • Experience using SAP desired but not essential
  • Analytical mind with the ability to translate detailed and complex information into concise and coherent management information
  • Must be diligent and use own initiative to resolve issues
  • Previous Industry experience in a similar role would be an advantage
