Head of Finance

Temporary 3-6 Months
Pay: £30.31 per hour plus £3.66 per hour holiday pay (equivalent to annual salary of £55,157 FTE)
3 days per week for the first month, increasing to 4 days per week
Hybrid or Remote working (Remote/London)

Charity People are working with a leading independent race equality charity in the UK. This organisation's mission is to challenge race inequality in Britain through research, policy engagement, and network building.

As the Head of Finance, you will align financial operations with organisational goals to support meaningful progress in social justice and play a pivotal role in providing strategic leadership. At the core of this position is the commitment to delivering user-focused financial services, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, reporting, treasury, payroll, and financial systems. You will establish and maintain a robust control environment, ensuring compliance with statutory reporting and tax requirements.

You will actively contribute to the overall success of the charity by aligning financial strategies with their organisational mission. Your responsibilities will include steering the financial direction of the organisation, driving efficiency in financial processes, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the CEO and Operations Director to develop and implement financial strategies.
* Oversee the finance function, ensuring controls, statutory compliance, and financial reporting.
* Lead budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes across the organisation.
* Manage financial systems, driving digital transformation to support the organisation's growth.
* Lead the preparation of year-end accounts and audits, ensuring compliance with Charity SORP.

Essential Requirements:
* Fully qualified accounting/finance professional (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) with experience in charity finance.
* Strong leadership experience, particularly in strategic and operational roles.
* Knowledge of UK charity SORP and statutory requirements.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data for decision-making.
