The Opportunity

Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a Specialist Operator to join the Fulton Hogan Surfacing Team in Nelson .

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team in a role that is both rewarding and challenging. Reporting to the Foreman, you will primarily be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various items of construction equipment and heavy plant. You will be working on projects for internal and external customers in the Nelson Region while complying with all relevant code of practice and quality requirements.

The right candidate will be able to:

Understand and embrace our Living Safely approach. Operate heavy vehicles, and other road construction equipment, including general maintenance to best practice. Take personal responsibility for the safety of your workmates, the environment, public and yourself. Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with the relevant job and work instruction.

 What you’ll bring to the table

Full Class 1 license, higher classes and RTW endorsements preferred but not essential. Have road construction experience, both hand and machine lay. Previous chip sealing or asphalt experience preferable Be able to work both independently or as part a team. Have an unwavering commitment towards living safely with a safety record to match. Excellent communication skills. Be a reliable individual with a strong work ethic.
