Volunteer Crafts Assistant

Purpose:   Oaklands Park are looking for volunteers to help support the crafts workshop, supporting adults with learning difficulties and autism to develop and learn new craft skills.

Hours:   Minimum of 3 hours per week, Monday and Friday between 9:30am and 4:30pm.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for different kinds of people with a range of abilities, knowledge, enthusiasm and fun to be around. We are looking for people to help the People We Support to learn new craft skills in areas such as…

• Needlepoint, cross stitch and tapestry
• Weaving
• Knitting
• Printing
• Cane weaving
• Hand sewing and machine sewing
• And a wide range of other crafts

Role requirements:

• Have current right to work in the UK.
• Able to commute to Oaklands Park.
• While some knowledge of crafts would be advantageous guidance will be provided and there will be opportunities to learn new skills.
• We are also looking for volunteers with particular skills in weaving to help set up looms and also skills using sewing machines to help finish off woven cloth made in the workshop.
• Spare a minimum of 3 hours per week or more.

All our Volunteers require a DBS criminal record check. We will do this for you.
