StR LAT/Clinical Fellow in Medical Paediatrics

Glasgow, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

Applications are invited for StR LAT/Clinical Fellow posts to commence on 7th August 2024. These posts will be backfilling vacancies in the clinical services caused by maternity leave and other absences. Posts will be offered as LAT or Clinical Posts (determined by the up-to-date numbers in our training programmes at the time of interview). All posts involve working alongside the Paediatric ST trainees and provide the same educational opportunities as the ST placements. There are opportunities at each level of training (both first on-call and middle-grade) and the appointment team will seek to map placements to the training needs and career progression of the successful applicants. The full range of posts available is still being finalised but there is likely to be a mixture of 12-month and 6-month rotations. Some posts may be offered in other areas of the West of Scotland paediatric programme subject to agreement with the associated health boards.

Documented competencies achieved through LAT posts can count towards CCT (if subsequently appointed to a Paediatric Specialty Training Programme) or may count towards a CESR application. Experience gained in a Clinical Fellow post may also be used to accelerate progress through a subsequent Paediatric ST training programme or may count towards a CESR application.

To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a license to practice.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT TO A LAT POST APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE PERSON SPECIFICATION CRITERIA FOR THE RELEVANT STAGE OF ST TRAINING PUBLISHED BY RCPCH. THOSE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A LAT POST WILL STILL BE CONSIDERED FOR CLINICAL FELLOW APPOINTMENTS.
