Job summary

Bugbrooke Medical Practice is a well-respected andestablished GP surgery providing primary care services to approximately 10,900patients. The surgery is a rural practice located in the village of Bugbrooke. The practice values high clinical standards and aims for an excellent patient experience.

Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a part time dispenser to join our busy, friendlyand experienced dispensary team. As part of the dispensary team you will be thefirst port of call for any medication questions or issues that patients needhelp with. Customer service is an integral part of the role, and the ability tocope under pressure in a busy environment is a must.

Weare looking for an enthusiastic, professional and hardworking individual whodemonstrates excellent communication skills and is able to prioritise workload.Previous experience in a GP setting and in using SystmOne would beadvantageous, but not essential. Training wouldbe provided for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role are to ensurethat all patients have their medication requests processed in a safe and timely manner. It is desirable for the candidate to be an experienced Dispenserwho holds NVQ Level 2 in dispensing or equivalent but this is not essential,training would be provided for the right candidate.

Other duties will consist of:

- Customer service and the ability to problemsolve are important skills.

- You will be labelling and assemblingprescriptions for dispensing patients.

- Handing out medication and dealing withface to face queries.

- Handling payments

- Stock management, includingstocking shelves and refrigerators

- Liaise with other healthcare professionals.

- Dealing with the day to day running ofpharmacy, including maintaining a clean and tidy working environment.

- Working in accordance with DispensaryStandards of Operating Procedures at all times.

- Any admin relating to the dispensingprocess.

- Disposal of returned and unused medicines

About us

There are 4 partners, supported by a surgery team made up ofsalaried GPs, ANPs, Practice Nurses and HCAs. Additional support is also givenby a team of skilled Administrators and Receptionists.

Bugbrooke Medical Practice also provides training for GPRegistrars, foundation year doctors and medical students.

The practice is part of the Blue PCN made up of 5 local GPsurgeries that work together with the aim of improving healthcare for thecommunity and reducing healthcare inequalities.

The practice is also involved in Research and the benefitsassociated with this for future patient care.

The health and wellbeing of staff and patients is alwaysmain priority.

DISPENSER up to hours per week

Job Description:

To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription.

To ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored and banked and a record kept of all financial transactions.

To endorse all prescription forms as appropriate, collate and forward the forms in a secure manner to the PPA for processing and reimbursement.

To promptly forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the practice manager.

To operate efficient stock control with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients.

To ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions.

To ensure that shelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level of hygiene.

To take prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be received from time to time.

To ensure that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and to maintain a temperature control record/logbook.

To maintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use of computers when available and appropriate.

To undertake any necessary work as may be required and appropriate to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing service.
