Based at the Eurostar Engineering Centre in Temple Mills, Siemens Mobility is recruiting a Fleet Technical Engineer to provide technical support to the Eurostar Fleet Maintenance team for 17 Velaro High Speed Electric Multiple Units. This support will be on a TSSSA (Technical Support and Spares Supply Agreement) basis.

The Fleet Technical Engineer will address challenges related to product safety, reliability, and maintainability. Responsibilities include generating solutions for identified technical issues and customer variation inquiries, providing up-to-date maintenance instructions by responding to technical documentation inquiries, and offering technical guidance to depot production teams. Additionally, the Fleet Technical Engineer will mentor and coach maintenance technicians within the team.

This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and performance.

You’ll make an impact by …. 

Completing engineering issues and tasks allocated through the Technical Issues database. Supporting discussions with suppliers as required to exchange technical failure information and potential solutions. Developing and documenting solutions to address and improve safety, reliability and availability. Developing solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance via review and update of Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMIs) and Procedures (VMPs). Developing cost effective solutions in line with relevant national and railway industry safety standards. Supporting the production of change control documentation for trials and modifications to implement solutions and eradicate technical problems identified. Liaising with production to feedback and cascade knowledge to the production teams. Liaising with the training department to develop training material and deliver training where applicable. Assisting other team members with the development of technical skills through coaching. Support the audit process through the assessment, prioritization and categorization of issues raised either for support by Siemens Technical Services and/or Siemens Fleet integrity

Your success will be grounded by … 

ONC / HNC qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering experience in a railway / rolling stock environment Knowledge of railway maintenance techniques and procedures. Demonstrate railway systems knowledge including reading mechanical and electrical drawings, systematic fault finding and problem identification. Ability to analyze train borne event and fault diagnostic systems Good knowledge of IT systems and software Excellent communication skills both written and oral Excellent organisational and planning skills
