Job summary

Walsall Early Intervention in Psychosis Service is looking fora dynamic and client centred Nurse, OT or social worker to join our , friendly team in Bloxwich. We work with people aged 14- 65 who have experienced First Episode of Psychosis. We also work with people who have been identified as having an At Risk Mental State.

The Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIP) is a specialist community mental health team which works with young people and adults in the three years following FEP or those who are deemed at risk of developing psychosis (ARMS).

EIS adopts an assertive outreach approach and provides individualised, comprehensive, evidence based interventions to optimise recovery, prevent relapse and help individuals and their families to cope with their experiences. In doing so, we aim to improve social, physical, psychological and vocational functioning and reduce the short and long term impact of psychosis in line with the EIP Care Pathway.

We are based in Bloxwich, covering the Walsall locality. Our office hours are Monday- Friday and some flexible working will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will hold care coordinator responsibility for 15- 20 patients who have experienced FEP or have been identified as having an At Risk Mental State. within the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service as part of the MDT. This will include specialist assessment, planning and intervention, including psychoeducation and family work, alongside generic care coordination to promote well being, recovery and empowering person centred practice. The post holder will participate in the development, delivery and evaluation of EIP Walsall. and interventions and will work closely with colleagues in their team as well other agencies.

As a care coordinator within EIP, you will be supported by the EIP Walsall Team manager and Clinical lead . You will also work with an OT, OT technician and STR worker, medics, psychology staff , nurses and administrative staff.

To provide supervision and leadership to junior members of staff to ensure delivery ofprogrammes of care for patients on their caseload.Principal Accountabilities To adhere to Professional Code of Practice for Governing body. To ensure effective communication with the multidisciplinary team, service users and carersabout programmes of care both routine and complex. To develop and promote networking with other agencies including housing, school,employment, leisure and benefit agencies. To promote and maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Data Protection Act andprofessional code of conduct. To ensure and promote service user, carer and relatives involvement whenever practicablethroughout the episode of care and clinical practice. To be conversant and practice within the Mental Health Act 1983 Mental Capacity Act 2005. To maintain and monitor records in accordance with local policies. If appropriate to professional role, to administer, store and order medications in line withTrust policy. Monitor and report to the medical staff the effects of medication and ensure thatall staff practice within the administration of medication policy. To set clinical standards within the team based on current research and development inclinical practice. To contribute, promote and ensure quality initiatives and audits clinical audit, essence ofcare. To ensure the development of knowledge and ideas and to support and promote evidencedbased practice. To allocate, delegate and supervise the work of junior members of staff as appropriate totheir level of ability. To ensure all junior members of staff receive regular clinical supervision. To participate in regular management supervision with the Early Intervention Team managerand attend regular clinical supervision with supervisor. To ensure that there is an environment conducive to learning and contribute to thedevelopment of junior members of staff and students on placement. To ensure that junior members of staff attend regular Performance Development Reviews(PDR) and develop Personal Development Plans (PDP). To receive and conduct PDRs and develop PDP for self and staff.
